Oxford, UK, 13 August 2026: YASA, the global leader in the design and production of axial flux motors, today announced the appointment of Sascha Riegel as Chief Financial Officer, effective immediately. The appointment comes at a pivotal moment for YASA as the business continues to scale manufacturing capacity as it prepares for the next generation of axial flux technology and future customer programmes.

As CFO, Sascha will lead YASA's finance strategy and will be central to supporting YASA’s ambitions to grow its presence in the performance automotive industry and other sectors, such as marine and off-highway.

Joerg Miska, CEO of YASA, commented: "I am pleased to welcome Sascha to YASA. He brings a rare combination of exceptional leadership and commercial acumen that will be essential for YASA as we enter our next phase of growth. Throughout his career, Sascha has consistently demonstrated the ability to strengthen financial operations and shape strategy in ways that drive lasting impact.”

Sascha brings more than 25 years of financial leadership from Mercedes-Benz AG, where he held a series of senior roles, most recently as Head of Controlling Material Costs – Commercial Issues. In this position, he was responsible for strategic financial planning and the optimisation of the global production network.

Sascha Riegel, CFO of YASA, added: “Since joining YASA, the passion, commitment and entrepreneurial mindset of the team have impressed me most. There is a genuine belief in the product, a highly collaborative culture and a strong determination to succeed. As YASA continues to grow, I see significant opportunities to further strengthen the processes and financial foundations that will support the next stage of our development. I am excited to work with Joerg and the wider team to build on these strengths and help drive YASA's continued success."

Sascha succeeds Phil Thompson as CFO. One of YASA's longest-serving team members, Phil played a vital role in establishing the company's finance function from its early stages and in securing UK government funding that supported YASA's growth at critical stages of its development.

Joerg Miska added: "Phil has made an outstanding contribution to YASA over seven years, including steering the finance function through the acquisition and integration into Mercedes-Benz. On behalf of the entire YASA team, I want to thank him for his commitment and wish him continued success in the future."
