YASA marked Mental Health Week with series of activities to encourage colleagues to take time to reflect, consider their own mental health and that of others, as well as practise wellness and wellbeing.
Oxfordshire Mind delivered an insightful mental health awareness training session showcasing what mental health encompasses in today’s busy modern world, including behaviours and warning signs we should look out for – both in terms of ourselves individually and looking out for family, friends and colleagues. These markers are a great first-stage indicator of one’s mental health.
YASA has raised money for the Mental Health Foundation and Oxfordshire Mind through a variety of activities including asking team members to wear green clothes in order to raise awareness of the great work being undertaken, day in and day out, by the Mental Health Foundation.
Throughout the week, additional activities included a daily step challenge, yoga classes, massage therapy and healthy eating recommendations (alongside the cake sale obviously!) were all on the menu for our teams across all sites as YASA promoted Mental Health Week. Another popular and fun activity was the YASA Mario Kart Champion competition, which was contested right until the end
Lucy Townsend, HR Director, said, “The importance of mental health and wellbeing in the workplace cannot be underestimated as one in four adults will be affected by mental health issues at some point in their lives.
“At YASA, our network of Mental Health First Aiders is available if any member of our team is struggling with their mental health, needs help and support or wants to talk to someone in confidence.
“Mental Health Week has provided us with an opportunity for YASA to promote mental health and wellbeing internally as well as externally, helping to foster a positive working environment in which we can all thrive.”
