In 2018, Jaguar set the electric water speed record on Coniston Water in England’s Lake District after the boat recorded a top speed of 88.61mph (142.60km/h).
Based around a Formula 1 inshore powerboat, Jaguar Vector stripped it back and inserted 320kg of batteries in the frame and a pair of YASA Axial Flux Electric Motors into the rear housing. With learning and technology taken direct from the Formula E project, the V20E boat develops 295bhp.
"This is an amazing result. Twelve months of hard work by our team and partners and a great first step towards electrifying the marine industry, demonstrating the power and versatility of this technology. It is a great honour for the Vector team to follow in the footsteps of Donald Campbell CBE and to set a world record on the historic Coniston Water."
